The Silver Gloves of America Association was started in Illinois in 1967 by Frank Hess and the late Frank Granados. Frank Hess remains active in Silver Gloves activities as a member of the Executive Committee. The National Silver Gloves has had a national tournament every year since its inception.

The Silver Gloves of America Association was started in Illinois in 1967 by Frank Hess and the late Frank Granados. Frank Hess remains active in Silver Gloves activities as a member of the Executive Committee. The National Silver Gloves has had a national tournament every year since its inception.
In the beginning the National Silver Gloves Tournament moved from city to city every two years. In 1987 and 1988 the tournament was conducted in Kingsport, Tennessee. In 1989 the tournament was in Prescott, Arizona. In 1990 and 1991 the tournament was held in Marshalltown, Iowa.
In 1992 the Silver Gloves partnered with Ringside, and they have sponsored the National Silver Gloves Tournament in the Kansas City, Missouri area since then.
